we are excited to welcome
Lynne Olson
Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m.
at the Chandelier Community Event Center
We are thrilled to announce author and historian Lynne Olson as the featured speaker in the eighth annual Foundation Speakers event. In 2023, Lynne released her ninth book – Empress of the Nile: The Daredevil Archaeologist Who Saved Egypt’s Ancient Temples from Destruction, and this will be the topic of her presentation.
Lynne Olson will be in Tiffin on Tuesday, October 15 at 6:30 p.m. at the Chandelier Community Event Center to speak about Christiane Desroches-Noblecourt, a French archaeologist who led an international effort to safe Egyptian temples from the floodwaters of the Aswan Dam in the 1960s. This is a free event and is open to the public. A Q&A session and book signing will follow. Copies of her book will be available to purchase thanks to the Pan Yan Bookstore. The Library will hold several programs surrounding her visit to encourage conversations about ancient Egypt, Jacqueline Kennedy’s involvement, and more.
The Christopher D. English Foundation Speakers series is named in memory of former library trustee Christopher D. English and strives to bring a world-class author, artist, or culture-shaper to Tiffin each fall, providing an educational and entertaining public discussion for the community to think about, discuss, and—perhaps—act upon. Past speakers have included award-winning poet and memoirist Maggie Smith, New York Times Bestselling true crime writer Abbott Kahler, renowned journalist and author Sam Quinones, and Pulitzer Prize finalist and LA Times columnist Steve Lopez, among others. The series is made possible through generous funding by the Tiffin-Seneca Library Foundation and the many donors who have contributed to the Foundation over the years.
